Ps. caerulipes, Yooper, Wild Swab Set

$25.00

A wild collection from the Hiawatha National Forest in The Upper Peninsula (UP) of Michigan. This cultivar is an actual "Yooper! ;)"

Extremely small and difficult species to find and to me, very rare. I woke up at 2am to embark on this 21 hour journey with my friend Rhizo Rider. To me, this species goes down in history, as it's my first ever wild Psilocybe find. Of course, I had strong doubts in actually finding it. I'm extremely grateful to other Inaturalists for making observations of this species in Michigan's Upper Peninsula last year. Without their observations, I would have had no idea where to look.

Found in the Hiawatha National Forest, surrounded densely by birch, various conifers, and sparsely beech. Growing only on rotted beech and leaf litter by bodies of water. The ground was like sponge, just below field capacity. We could walk on it without water oozing out but could still feel all the water. Every observation we found was surrounded by several Deconica growing on leaf litter as well. Where we did not find Deconica, we could not find caerulipes. We did check a spot in Northern Wisconsin on the way home in hopes of finding Wisconsin's first, documented, wild Psilocybe find, but had no luck.
